At C Allen Groundworks & Landscaping, we are currently working on an exciting large-scale garden redesign project at Haughley House in Somerby. This ongoing project showcases the kind of detailed planning and collaboration that we bring to every job.

Why the Redesign Was Needed

The project began following the installation of new systems at the property, including air source heat pumps, 3-phase electric mains, and a new rainwater harvester system. The disruption to the existing patios and driveway meant that restoring them as they were was not the best option. Instead, the clients chose to take the opportunity for a complete garden redesign with new patios and a driveway.

Project in Pictures – Before Works

Working with Rutland Garden Design

As with many of our projects, we are working closely with Rutland Garden Design to bring this vision to life. The new design focuses on creating multiple outdoor living spaces to suit different needs, including:

  • An outdoor dining area for entertaining.

  • A quiet, tranquil spot to relax, read, and enjoy the sunshine.

  • A larger patio space that will include a hot tub and a safe area for the children to play.

This thoughtful design ensures the garden will be both practical and enjoyable for the whole family.

Project Progress So Far

The project is well underway, with significant groundwork already completed:

  • Underground ducting, cables, and drainage pipes have been installed.

  • The garden has been excavated and shaped into three tiers of patios, creating a dynamic and functional layout.

  • New footings have been dug to support small ironstone walling and retaining walls that will define the different levels and spaces within the garden.

With the foundations now in place, the project is taking shape and we are excited to see the transformation continue.

Looking Ahead

This is a major landscaping project and one that we are very proud to be part of. As the build progresses, the garden will start to reveal the design vision that blends functionality with beauty. We look forward to sharing the finished photographs once the project is complete.
