Video Walkthrough: See Inside the Haughley House Garden Transformation in Somerby

When reading about a full garden redesign, photos and descriptions only tell half the story—especially on a site with significant elevation changes.

To give you a real sense of scale, flow, and structural finish, we’ve put together a video walkthrough of our completed project at Haughley House in Somerby.

Press play below to take a tour through the three levels, created in partnership with the team at Rutland Garden Design:

Solving the Sloped Garden Challenge: Key Video Highlights

A major slope can make a large portion of a back garden feel unusable, steep, or difficult to maintain. When tackling a multi-level build like Haughley House, precision ground engineering is just as critical as the final planting layout.

Here is what went into creating the seamless transition you see in the video:

  1. Heavy Earthmoving & Ground Preparation

Before any paving or lawning could begin, our groundworks team excavated and levelled distinct terraces to convert a harsh gradient into flat, usable outdoor rooms.

  2. Structural Retaining & Drainage Integration

Multi-tiered gardens require robust retaining walls and hidden drainage systems to prevent water pooling and ensure long-term stability against soil movement.

  3. Multi-Zone Outdoor Living

By establishing three distinct tiers, the garden now accommodates an upper social dining patio, a central lawned green space, and a private lower sun terrace—allowing the homeowners to enjoy different areas throughout the day.

  4. Bringing the Design to Life

Working alongside Rutland Garden Design, we translated their creative vision into a solid, high-precision build that enhances both the property’s aesthetic appeal and market value.
