Why Solid Foundations Matter: Spotlighting Our Recent Concreting Projects in Rutland & Beyond

If you’ve ever watched a building project come together, you already know the golden rule: your structure is only as good as the ground it’s built on. Whether it's a new driveway, a home extension, or a timber garage, getting the groundworks and concrete right at the start saves a massive amount of headaches down the road.
Lately, the C Allen Groundworks and Landscaping team has been out and about across Rutland and the surrounding villages doing what we do best—getting stuck into some heavy-duty concreting projects.
Here’s a quick look at two recent jobs we’ve wrapped up, and a bit of insight into what goes on before the concrete trucks even arrive.
Getting the Levels Spot On in Wilbarston
We recently wrapped up an incredibly productive week over in Wilbarston, finishing off the concrete stage of our latest project.
To anyone passing by, a concrete pour looks like it happens fast. But the real work happens long before the truck turns up. We spend days on site clearing the area, digging out, and getting the sub-base and levels mathematically perfect. If you’re out by even a few millimetres, it throws off the entire build later on.
Seeing the pour come together smoothly after all that prep makes the hard work well worth it. The site is now completely transformed, rock-solid, and ready for the bricklayers to move in for the next phase.
A big shoutout to Wright Mix. Their service was spot on as always, turning up exactly when we needed them so we could keep the job moving and stay right on schedule.
A Solid Foundation for an Oak-Framed Garage in Hambleton
Over in Hambleton, we were back out in the Rutland countryside working alongside the team at Generation Timber Ltd.
They needed a flawless foundation for a stunning new oak-framed garage. Because oak structures are incredibly heavy and built to last for generations, the ground underneath has to be absolutely bulletproof.
For this one, our team:
Excavated the site to the exact specs required.
Installed a full drainage system
Prepped and poured a heavy-duty concrete pad.
It’s great to work alongside other local businesses who care about quality, so a big thanks to Generation Timber for trusting us with the groundworks on this build. We can’t wait to see the finished garage standing on it.
